Policing in the future criminal justice system

Purpose of the Summit
The summit will focus on the NPCC Criminal Justice Coordination Committee's 2030 Strategy, set against the backdrop of significant criminal justice reform outlined in the Independent Criminal Courts Review (Leveson), the Independent Sentencing Review (Gauke), and the Policing White Paper. Together, these reforms represent one of the most significant programmes of change in a generation.

The event will explore how policing and partners across the criminal justice system can work together to deliver the strategy's vision:
“Policing operating within a joined-up criminal justice system that supports its workforce, victims and witnesses; progresses cases swiftly and effectively; and delivers fair, proportionate decisions that earn and maintain public trust and confidence.”

Bringing together leaders, practitioners and policymakers from across the criminal justice system, the summit will showcase progress already underway, strengthen cross-system collaboration, and identify the key challenges and opportunities ahead. Through keynote speakers and panel discussions, participants will consider how to deliver reform and build a modern, effective criminal justice system that is fit for the 21st century.
